TFH
/ RCN - TRAILER FOR HADES
TFH
/ RCN 'Hell Life' C23CDR001
Two long improv pieces based around synth drone, shortwave
radio and guitar, recorded back in January '98.

TFH
/ RCN 'Places of Safety' C23CDR002
The second TFH excursion recorded between Sept and Nov
'98 sees this duo using field recordings and found sounds
in a series of location contemplations that range from
the 'ambient' to the 'harsh'. Prevously on cassette

TRAILER
FOR HADES '13.10.01' C23CDR013
Stark guitar and shortwave improvisation from 2001. (Wallet
package.)

TRAILER
FOR HADES 'Black Piano' C23CDR014
Though they set out into a bleak and diffuse landscape
of shortwave emissions and general dissonance, TFH find
some kind of coherence and resolution over the course
of this 54 minute improvisation. Good one. (Black and
white wallet package.)

TRAILER
FOR HADES '16/12/01' C23CDR016
Dispute over cause of death unravels over two long tracks
of 'relatively minimal dissonance'. (Black and white wallet
package.)

TRAILER
FOR HADES 'The Ghost Writer' C23CDR019
Determinacy, indeterminancy, and plate reverb face off
in this unsettling guitar/ radio /analogue synth /objects
dialogue. (Black and white wallet package.)
SCHADENFREUDE
SCHADENFREUDE
'Ultra Brutal' C23CDR003
The first Schadenfreude release is a triumph of the musical
artform... From it's inception this work has almost guaranteed
a place for Schadenfreude alongside such names as Morbid
Nork and Putrid Affliction..." or so says, er, Schadenfreude.
Debut CDR of noisy effects and multi shortwave splatter.
Did I just hear someone say commercial suicide ?

SCHADENFREUDE
'Macro Incremental Quasi Ambient Variations' C23CDR004
More works of free idiocy in the form of a 39 minute 'jam'
from these 'performance artistes'- this one featuring
"ethnic instruments from around the world, noises
produced using their own mouths and duvets.." and
a "guest appearance" by Mr. Donald Pleasance.
Oh Dear...

SCHADENFREUDE
'Listen, Move & Dance (A Tribute To Daphne Oram)'
C23CDR005
New One! "Schadenfreude have taken sounds originally
produced by Daphne Oram nearly forty years ago, and created
a structure over which to reproduce their own unique audio
formations... "How much more can we take? And who
the fuck is Daphne Oram? All is revealed in the deadpan
sleevenotes...

SCHADENFREUDE
'Disco Specialists' C23CDR008
Another post-everything study, this time purporting to
explore the sounds and culture of the 70's, in fact it's
an (allegedly) pissed up multi-layered experimental noisefest
utilising everything from cymbals and bass guitar to toy
'keyboards' and kazoo. Bet you can't wait.

SCHADENFREUDE
'Flies on Shit' C23CDR015 (2xCDR)
Schadenfreude return with this double CDR deluxe package.
Worth it for the 'artwork' alone. Nearly two hours of
typically Schaden stupidity, including instrumentation
stolen from unsuspecting toddlers, and a visitation from
PKD. Over two discs, 'Flies', and 'Shit', the conclusion
can only be: "Earth, man-- what a shithole."
SCHADENFREUDE
'Pudding Crime: Monsters From the ID(iot)' C23_026
An alleged 'interrogation of the Real'(Slavoj Zizek),
or rather, and interrogation of the reality of the "Real",
from C23 resident audio miscreants. Schadenfreude engage
in a redundant (audio) critique of a field of study already
rendered redundant by years of far more well reasoned
philosophical inquiry. Be proud to be diagnosed as dangerously
sadomasochistic on your local psychoanalyst's couch by
downloading this 37 minute frequency-shredder. If there's
an audible frequency not exploited by this release, we'd
like to know
.

Jesus
fucking Christ! (or should that be, Jacques fucking Lacan!?)
FULLY DILATED / SCHADENFREUDE 'Baby, I Love You Like an
Unwanted Child' SPLIT C23_032
A
union that should never have happened? The salutary tale
of a hapless Schadenfreude's impregnatory entrapment by
a ruthless Fully Dilated's desire for Catch 23 council
housing. Expecting harshness? Good Call. Eight tracks
of variegated noise squabble for the Jerry Springer fans
among you. Enjoy!
SCHADENFREUDE
'Superstars of Noise' C23_042
Schadenfreude's latest and long un-awaited bout of sheer assininity. An hour long two track exposé of "the twelve year-old celebritocracy" that is contemporary culture. This is everything you long for and love in a Schadenfreude release... overly long, unnecessarily noisy, and with almost no discernable auditory connection to the concept with which it's been retrospectively imbued... Nice!

ZEBRA MU / SCHADENFREUDE 'The Good, the Bent, and the Twisted' split C23_048
This long-planned toy-based split is finally here! Zebra Mu bends and Schadenfreude twist various children's toys and keyboards, resulting in an often noisy and sometimes bizarre record for all to enjoy! It's bent, it's twisted, and it's all GOOD

ENGLISH PEASANTS ENSEMBLE
ENGLISH
PEASANTS ENSEMBLE 'The Physical Imposibility of Art in
the Mind of Someone Who Didn't Attend Goldsmiths College'
C23CDR017 (2xCDR)
A two hour audio negotiation on the institutional nature
of avant-garde art, that dissolves modernism and post-modernism
into an aestheticised homogeneity of superficial conceptualism
and commodified resistance. Prodding discursive formations
with a paradoxically shitty stick, EPE produce folk-woven
audio mulch of introverted electronics and unstable, primitive,
percussive clatter. A TRIUMPH!!!

ENGLISH
PEASANTS ENSEMBLE 'T.A.F.K.A.N.H.O.S' C23CDR021
EPE's acoustic kireru rumination: an apprehension of the
antagonisms between the liberal humanist notion of the
self-determining autonomous subject, the rigidity of institutional
and infrastructural discipline, and the alienating effect
of a collective existence.

ENGLISH
PEASANTS ENSEMBLE 'Dominic (with Fishbowl)' C23CDR020
Conducted as part of Operation Dominic was a series of
high altitude tests known as Operation Fishbowl. The purpose
was to establish a normalization or reference point for
future high yield designs. The yield was slightly lower
than expected. Within two days it had broken up into small
patches and spread out for 5 to 8 miles.

ENGLISH
PEASANTS ENSEMBLE 'The Air Above Gravesend' C23CDR024
Latest instalment of EPE's explorations. Extended electroacoustic
dialogues with granular interventions.
PBR STREETGANG
PBR
STREETGANG 'Memory Chime' C23CDR012
Dark & evocative electroacoustic compositions by JR,
aided and abetted by M Johnson (bass & samples), I
Crocker (field recording) & J Buckley (digeridoo).
Constructed 1999-2000.
NEON
DEATH / PBR STREETGANG 'Neon PBR' C23_025
Split
release between PBR STREETGANG and John Marra's NEON DEATH.
Extra special thanks from JR to Mike Storer (soprano saxophone)
and M Johnson (VST synth) for their invaluable contributions
to 'untitled 4'.
LO
PAN & PBR STREETGANG 'Duets' C23_030
Collaboration between Lo Pan and PBR Streetgang. Two half
hour tracks of sometimes bizarre and psychedelic free
noise with free piano, and bass guitar / synth accompaniments.
PBR STREETGANG 'Automatic Writing Sans Breton' C23_051
New compositions on a Surrealist theme from PBR. Five dark and dirty soundscapes with analogue waves, feedback, and digital grit.

LO PAN & PBR STREETGANG 'Duets 2' C23_054
The second installment of 'Duets', in which Lo Pan and PBR Streetgang eschew much of the instrumentation of the first release. This time around it's an atmospheric mixture of analogue synthesis, virtual saxophone, VSTs playing themselves with no input signal, and a variety of acoustic clutter.

JARROD RONE
JARROD
RONE 'Dirt Towpath Shape' C23CDR006
'Minimalist ambience, harsh noise and strange loops' from
this TFH/ Schadenfreude layabout. Will appeal to everyone
and no one. Go on, you know it makes sense!

JARROD
RONE 'Material 00' C23CDR010
First of two discs documenting JR's 2000 output. Unrestrained
harsh noise blasts and synthetic squiggle. Very lengthy
tracks challenge endurance. You have been warned!

JARROD
RONE 'National Grid' C23CDR011
Layers of sound build up into cacophonous waves of noise,
subtle glitches and found sound merge into strange arrangements.
Nice black and white sleeve underlines the 'minimal' approach
taken here.
MIKE
STORER & JARROD RONE 'The Colour Out of Space' C23CDR018
Multi-instrumentalist Storer blows sweeping and lyrical
sax lines over JR's electronics & objects in this
2002 collaboration. Lovely.
DANIEL
CLOUGH / JARROD RONE 'untitled' C23_036
Dan Clough (bricksKILL) in his new audio persona makes
lovely electroacoustic sound, with some tasty field recordings,
very nice indeed. Combine this with some new JR droning
ambience and this is what you get... a nice split release
which should appeal to all generic fence-sitters. Nice
stuff, check it out.

LO PAN
LO
PAN 'You Are Nowhere' C23CDR022
Master of procrastination and general uselessness Mr.
Lopan only took three years to get this to me. It was,
however, worth the wait and delivers a variety of pleasures
ranging from perverse loops built from deviant source
material, to almost a warped 'neo classicism'. Some very
nice constructions here. Oh yes.
LO
PAN & PBR STREETGANG 'Duets' C23_30
Collaboration between Lo Pan and PBR Streetgang. Two half
hour tracks of sometimes bizarre and psychedelic free
noise with free piano, and bass guitar / synth accompaniments.

EVIL
ROBOT TED
EVIL
ROBOT TED 'DRAGON DAGGER' C23_027
Yet more excellent harsh noise from John Marra's main
project EVIL ROBOT TED. This record fucking ROCKS!
EVIL
ROBOT TED 'FADING ROSES, THIS GARDEN'S OVER' EP C23_028
The accompanying EP to EVIL ROBOT TED's DRAGON DAGGER...
A very nice contrast. Quite beautiful ambient pieces.

EVIL
ROBOT TED 'HELL' C23_029
We love Ted. If Hell is like this it's a good job
we're going there. More sonic mayhem from the mighty robotster.
EVIL
ROBOT TED 'HEROIN EATER' C23_031
Latest instalment of ERT's particular brand of noise-breakcore.
A particularly topical one, this! Somehow more sinister
than his previous recordings for us. What do you think?
EVIL
ROBOT TED 'STUFF FROM OTHER STUFF' C23_033
A Release of various earlier ERT works, taken from hard
to find splits and compilations, as well as some previously
unreleased material, including a live appearance. Some
very nice harsh stuff here.

EVIL ROBOT TED 'Mother Brain in the Back of my Throat +' C23_046
Extended EP marking the triumphant return of the Mighty Robotster! Predominantly harsh noise (though with some smashed-to-bits beats in places), this is an extended version of an original ep that was never released, and features a bunch of cool remixes.

EVIL ROBOT TED 'Brooklyn Attitude' EP C23_049
The new new EP from C23 fave Brokecore John, a really nicely variegated sixteen minute piece incorporating smashed-up beats and harsh and droning noise. An absolute must for fans of ERT and noise fans generally, GET DOWNLOADING!

ZEBRA
MU
ZEBRA
MU 'Childhood Destroyer' EP C23_034
Debut release on C23 for ZEBRA MU. Toy saxophones, keyboards,
guitars and other charity shop bargains make noises they
were never designed to make. Amazing harsh noise assaults
with the occasional 'ambient' (!) interlude. We love it!
ZEBRA MU 'Glass Material Action' C23_040
New one from this quality exponent of circuit-bent noise. The equipment used was, says Mr. Mu, 'only a contact mic'd piece of glass and various effects pedals (which have been circuit bent!) All the tracks were made by me rubbing/hitting my face and hands over the glass surface as well as using an assortment of power tools/other sharp objects on the glass as well!' Awesome noise attacks with some very nice and unexpected smoother sonic textures.

ZEBRA MU 'Small Talk' C23_056
The Zebra Mu returns to delight your ears with this brain-shredding set of bent harshtronics. Ticking all the right boxes as you would expect, this is another fifteen minutes of wonderful analogue noise. Highly recommended indeed!

DANIEL CLOUGH
DANIEL
CLOUGH / JARROD RONE 'untitled' C23_036
Dan Clough (bricksKILL) in his new audio persona makes
lovely electroacoustic sound, with some tasty field recordings,
very nice indeed. Combine this with some new JR droning
ambience and this is what you get... a nice split release
which should appeal to all generic fence-sitters. Nice
stuff, check it out.

DANIEL CLOUGH 'tower of ghost' C23_041
Hot on the heels on his incredible 'sea of trees' release on My Formica Table comes Daniel Clough's new one, 'tower of ghost'. Yet more astonishing work from this fantastic artist. Attempts to describe this audio in terms of genre etc. wouldn't do it justice. You have to check this out, it's a real spine-tingler.

DANIEL CLOUGH 'noise without distortion' C23_043
In a recent myspace bulletin regarding the last outstanding release from Dan Clough, 'tower of ghost', I said 'I'm running out of superlatives here!', so with the arrival of yet more amazing material in the form of this intense new one, I'm a little lost for words. Awesome drones, field recordings, and electroacoustic ambience from this crazily prolific experimentalist. It puts me in mind of the better releases from Ashtray Navigations, which is surely praise indeed.

DANIEL CLOUGH 'The Woman of the Snow' C23_050
Yet another amazing new record from this up and coming UK electroacoustic experimentalist. Dan's usual broad sonic palette is present here, but this time augmented with some noisier textures...
Highly recommended.

DANIEL CLOUGH 'One Man is Missing, Two Girls Lie Dead' C23_053
Like his 'The Woman of the Snow' release, this new one from Daniel Clough is conceptually linked by a reference to a somewhat obscure film. What we have here is Dan at his best, shimmering drones and percussive ambience, tracks which slide inexorably to darker conclusions. Very highly recommended outing from Mr. Clough.

WHITE MOUNTAINS
WHITE MOUNTAINS 'Like Water Lilies' C23_044
C23 newcomer White Mountains makes some bloody cool noise, and on top of that he's a nice guy. What more could you ask for? Download this record and treat yourself. C'mon, it's the end of the year, you owe it to yourself.

WHITE MOUNTAINS / GIMP NIPPLES untitled split C23_045
A pretty bizarre split release, which is good because we like it bizarre! Mr. Gimp Nipples weighs in with a hefty chunk of circuit-bent harsh noise, whilst White Mountains somehow manages to move from ambience to harsh noise to 'rock' over the course of one 16 minute track. Rather delightful.

WHITE MOUNTAINS 'Our Lady of Sorrows' C23_047
White Mountains is on a roll! This is a superb harsh noise record, it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into this. Highly recommended.

WHITE MOUNTAINS 'There Was a Room And It Was Cold' C23_057
This is an absolutely stunning record from Timothy Tree, I am quite lost for words here. Elegiac acoustic songwriting collides with field recordings, and a sensibility so incisive and it sends real shivers up my spine. As if the elegance and virtuosity weren't enough, this brilliant set concludes with what must be a world-first, an acoustic cover of one of the most moving and emotive of American tracks from the mid 80s, 'Three Nights' by Black Flag. An absolutely essential download.

HERSELF & WHITE MOUNTAINS 'Her Mountains' C23_060
A stunner of a collaborative record from Herself (Italy) and White Mountains (UK). The audio is very difficult to try and categorise, so I listened again, and again, and again... In fact it's easier to tell you that the instrumentation here includes electric and acoustic guitars, piano, drums, electronics, field recordings and voice. A gem of a 30 minute sonic journey, this comes very highly recommended.

OTHER ARTITST/MISCELLANEOUS GROUPS & PROJECTS
MIKE
STORER & JARROD RONE 'The Colour Out of Space' C23CDR018
Multi-instrumentalist Storer blows sweeping and lyrical
sax lines over JR's electronics & objects in this
2002 collaboration. Lovely.
DACHISE
- SMELL & QUIM 'Deep Greek' C23CDR009
A collaborative work from these two. Dark electronics
and noisy clanking and scraping add up to a sinister soundscape,
and titles like 'Fanny Batter Spillage' and 'Skid Marks
on Poles' continue the S&Q 'aesthetic'. Highly recommended
outing from these legends.

DOGLIVEROIL
'Swedish Ikea Orgy' C23CDR007 Limited 90 Copies
The Stoke on Trent reprobates make a welcome return with
this album length outing of intense noise blister, earache
inducing feedback, and vocal dexterity. Go Scandinavian
with the DOGS ! How can you possibly resist ?
NEON
DEATH / PBR STREETGANG 'Neon PBR' C23_025
Split
release between PBR STREETGANG and John Marra's NEON DEATH.
Extra special thanks from JR to Mike Storer (soprano saxophone)
and M Johnson (VST synth) for their invaluable contributions
to 'untitled 4'.
FULLY
DILATED / SCHADENFREUDE 'Baby, I Love You Like an Unwanted
Child' SPLIT C23_032
A

THE
FREE NOISE FOUNDATION 'Walking the Atlas of Time' C23_035
Brilliantly
diverse sounds from Production Unit Xero's Ramon Mills.
Glitched-up soundscapes and superb ambience from this
great project.
TAYSIDE MENTAL HEALTH / FULLY DILATED 'Mental Dilation' EP C23_037
Scotland's finest, Tayside Mental Health, team up with c23 fave Fully Dilated to bring you this wonderful split EP. By turns bizarre and incredibly harsh, this is one not to be missed!

SYNESTHETIC BURST 'Next Heaven' C23_039
Sublime harsh noise blasts from Brokecore John's, err, side-side project. What a relief to have some of John's great noise to release! Very nice stuff, if you have a penchant for computer-based harsh noise, this is a must. We hope to bring you a new ERT ep very soon!

VARIOUS ARTIST ‘C23_023 Compilation’ C23_023’
A celebration of 10 years of our humble label, the music here ranges from ambience through glitch/techno to harsh noise and more. Huge thanks to all who participated from JR and MJ.

EXTRINSIC 'The Importance of Drink When Making Noise' C23_052
Quite possibly the most unrelentingly unpleasant record we've ever released on C23, and without any doubt the most drunken one. Extrinsic is a mysterious collaborative noise project, kind of like a harsh noise version of the Freemasons without the silly handshake... you don't call them, they call you. Two long tracks of barely-able-to-see pedal and VST abuse. Enjoy, or not!

THE WAY THE DEAD LOVE ep C23_055
A collaborative effort from Timothy Tree (White Mountains, Skeleton Makes Good etc.) and Jarrod Rone (Schadenfreude, English Peasants Ensemble etc.). Over 25 minutes, the audio here moves from what could possibly be described as 'harsh ambience', to the inclusion of some apocalyptic beats, to a severe full-on harsh noise attack. Recorded on 4/5 March 08, then heavily edited and processed by Mr. Tree, the result is rather pleasing to say the least. Get downloading!

URSUS 'Turns' C23_058
C23 debut for Ursus. In the tradition of fellow Stoke-on-Trent noisers Dogliveroil, this is an intense seven track release of blistering analogue noise and pedal high jinks, guaranteed to leave you with ringing ears. Lovely stuff!
